Ned wants to join the military but he was too young to be enlisted. After a year passed Ned was finally enlisted to the army and put into boot camp. Ned and his platoon was shipped off to Hawaii to help with communications on the battle with Japan. Atop the island of Hawaii the Navajo squad went through training to become the code talkers. After successfully invading Bouganville Ned and the other soldiers pressed forward to retake the occupied islands controlled by the Japanese
The battalion has to invade the Marianas Islands: Operation Forager. They also have to take over Saipan, Tinian, Guam, and Peleliu. All these islands are stepping stones to taking over Japan itself. After taking over the Marianas Islands Ned and the 3rd division went to their next target Guam. Then the 3rd division was ordered to take Saipan which is a town on Guam. After taking control all the captains marked the 21st of July as their W- day the day they make their invasion.
It was Ned's birthday and his whole squad was celebrating with him. Although they were on enemy territory they weren't afraid to have some fun. It was already 1945 and the Americans were on the verge of victory. he biggest Marine assault was on the island of Iwo Jima and if the Americans took Iwo Jima it would open the door to Japan and the end of the war.
After the taking of Iwo Jima, Okinawa would be taken over in a breeze. The Japanese was on the verge of defeat but still never gave in. The largest armada in history was set to take over and defeat Japan. When July 21st came the U.S. Government pulled back the marines for they were bringing in an atomic bomb.
As Ned and the troops continued to pull out of Japan, the U.S. Sent an atomic bomb to Hiroshima and blew it up. Soon later the U.S. sent a second bomb to Nagasaki and blew it up too. The destruction was so devastating that Emperor Hirohito sent a letter of surrender to the U.S Supreme Military Council who accepted the surrender and ordered all troops to be returned to the U.S. For the war was over.
After the war Ned returned to his home in India where he settled down with a wife and kids. A few years went by and the military gave all Navajo soldiers permission to share what they did during the war.

Who are the Navajo?
Navajos are indians from the South west whose language is known to be linked with the Athabaskan people of Alaska. The placed where they arrived is an area bounded by four sacred mountains, also known as the four corners area. Where New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah come together.
What I think of the book?
I think that this book was very interesting and informal because I did not know that there were Navajo men in World War II. It was interesting because I didnt know what life was on Japan until this book described it to me as a hell worse than hell.
About Code Talkers

Code Talkers is about a Navajo man who is sent away to a boarding school in America. Then the Navajo's were picked by the military to help them with the war on Japan. The Navajo soilders were to be a secret group known as the code talkers who would send secret messages in thier language to the soilders so the enemy couldn't understand what they were talking about.
